UK records 30 more coronavirus deaths and more than 2600 new cases

he UK recorded another 30 deaths from Covid as fatalities continue to fall.

The daily death toll is almost half what it was on the same day last week- when 53 deaths were reported.

This brings the official death toll to 127,191.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have now been 151,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

A further 2,672 new Covid cases were recorded on Thursday - down from 3,030 last week.

It brings the total to 4,380,976.

Government data also shows that a further up to April 14 shows that 117,835 more people received the first dose of the vaccine - with 343,783 receiving the second jab.

It comes as around three-quarters of people in England aged 80 and over have had both doses of Covid-19 vaccine, according to NHS England figures.

An estimated 75 per cent of people in this age group had received both jabs as of April 11, meaning they are fully vaccinated against coronavirus.

Some 51.9 per cent of people aged 75 to 79 are estimated to have had both doses, along with 22.4 per cent of people aged 70 to 74.
